Fathers and Sons, and Fathers and Sons…..

https://firebrandmag.com/articles/what-did-abraham-know-reflections-on-intimacy-and-surrender I was surprised by Rachel Coleman's article in Firebrandmag.com, "What Did Abraham Know?". She says that her flight of imagination and this question arose after a pastor's sermon suggested Abraham's experience with God prior to Mount Moriah and the call to sacrifice Isaac was inadequate and his trust in God was tested and molded by that experience. I had watched the recent movie about Abraham's journey to Mount Morih, "His Only Son," and , like Ms. Coleman and the movie's producer, I believe...

God Goes Where He Is Wanted, Welcomed, Received

While at Seedbed.com's New Room Leaders gathering in NC in February, David Goodnight heard a message from the Lord that really struck him and this is the basis of a prayer. he offered a few weeks later in an online event.David Goodnight's words : "Before the beginning of the creation of man and since, our God has been regularly, repeatedly, routinely rejected. He was rejected by 1/3 of the angels and by Satan, who fell from heaven. He was rejected within a generation of creating man by tragedy in the first family. He was rejected at the time of Noah by virtually all of mankind. He was...

Dreams and Spiritual Battle

From 3/23/23.....A dream. Journaling dreams can be a wonderful exercise... I had one last night.  I'm still pondering what it can mean!!?! It was about my son hosing out my garage and rats from the neighbors garage coming to eat out of a dog food bag in my garage.....(and I don't even have a dog!) and a neighbor's dogs coming and moving into my house and I'm trying to get rid of dogs and rats!   LOL! I've been working on clearing out and organizing my garage for a couple of weeks. I think the dream indicates I'm losing the battle alone and need some help! 🤣 A friend replied to my post:...

Secrecy And Shame

Hint: When someone tells you not to "tell anyone" about something they have done to you or someone else that causes harm, unless it is accompanied by a sincere apology and assurance that it won't happen again, tell them you will not keep their secrets. And if harm has been perpetrated against an innocent or vulnerable person unable to speak for herself or is a repeat offense after a warning, shout it from the rooftops. Mordecai did not hesitate to wear sackcloth and ashes and mourn loudly in the midst of the people when Haman carried out his vile plan against the people of God with the...

Accountability And Support

(CBB-3/23/2016) Accountability and Support: Jesus' act of sending his disciples out 2X2. "Wherever 2 or 3 gather in my name, I am there." Matthew 18:20 Ecclesiastes 4:12And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. Who are your accountability and support partners? Who prays for you? Who has refrigerator rights to tell you when something is stinky or has been held onto for too long? Or drink deeply of the joy and celebration of life with you?

“My Sheep Hear My Voice…”

(CBB-3/23/2017) I realize that not everyone "hears" the Lord's voice…feels the Spirit within their own spirit the way I do at times. One young lady with whom I am working is a very sensitive person and a new Christian. She is especially wanting the Lord to give her clear direction, to speak to her and let her feel his presence. If we do not seek God's will in his Word first, where it is clearly given, why would God give us other means of hearing him? Anything we hear or see we are to "test" against his written Word. If you don't know what God has said in the Word you can get quite deceived...

That Moment When You Have Yo Decide…

(CBB-3/23/23) There are certain points in the faith journey that resonate with those who embark on it. Reading about the life of Oswald Chambers tonight I came across this gem: While in a church meeting as a college student he stood and said, "Either Christianity is a downright fraud, or I have not got hold of the right end of the stick." And then and there he claimed the gift of the Holy Spirit he had been praying for , "in dogged commitment to Luke 11:13. "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to...

Oil Of Joy

As I have studied the book of Isaiah, I have become much more aware of quotes of the Old Testament that are in the New Testament. Here's one from Psalm/Hebrews that I came across today! Love that "oil of joy"! (Also, in Isaiah 61:3) Psalm 45:7You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.(part of Psalm called "a wedding song!") Hebrews 1:9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”

Jesus Sitting At The Right Hand….

The significance of Jesus "sitting at the right hand of God's throne" means that Jesus' role-as Messiah, Savior, Prophet, Priest, and King - is to fulfill the purpose and will of God, to carry out the mandates, orders, and commands of God. That position possesses the delegated authority of the one that granted it and by having it Jesus is given authority to be the "litmus test" of one's salvation. Does one accept Jesus' authority and role? Does one believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior? Do we understand and acknowledge that his name is to be honored and lifted up?

Choosing Wilderness

)CBByrd 3/19/2022). Even in the wilderness, darkness or midst of battle…… "It's not a dead end if God took you there for a purpose." Character in movie "Unconditional" If you find yourself in any such place, God's redemptive power means it can serve a good purpose. Will I let Him have it for the redemptive purpose He desires? If it becomes a dead end, it is because I insisted on remaining there.
