Just pondering… for those who bemoan the expansion of Europeans into North America centuries ago, disrupting life of “ indigenous “ peoples…. (in defending a position favoring free and unfettered immigration to the US) ….
No one was ever “indigenous “ to North America. Everyone migrated here in one era or another from somewhere else. If you want to go back to “indigenous roots”, look to Africa….. and in the present age it’s not altogether filled with hope, peace, and prosperity… constantly in need of assistance from outsiders, it seems to keep from killing each other off in genocidal wars or dying in famines or under brutal dictators’ oppression.
The point is the human condition is one of brokenness to the core, always struggling to overcome and find greater fulfillment in more, better, bigger, provident “greener pastures.” So, Darwinists, isn’t it all just an evolutionary battle? Or is there a better way to be found…. I think the US, in its conception and stated values is a better way. It is worth preserving and continually being renewed and examined for faithfulness to its vision, just like Christianity itself which is so integrally encompassed in its founding.
