A friend and I were talking about journaling, writing for one’s self and other readers, privately and publicly. She is a professional published writer. I’m just a WordPress amateur blogger. I have no publishing ambitions, I’m just preserving thoughts for teaching others what I’ve learned.
I started blogging in 2004 and it has mostly taken the place of my daily journaling. I have about 2500 entries in electronic blog media, 95% of it is original content of mine. Like my years of hardback bound journal pen and paper writing which began in 1990, my writing is mostly for myself… to process emotions and thoughts, as part of studying, praying and meditating on scripturr, to preserve insights and thoughts I may want to use in teaching, discipling and counseling.
In the last six years, analytics show 74k post views have been documented by 56K visitors in 123 countries.
I do not have any goals or expectations for views, I don’t run ads, I’m not monetizing content, I’m just putting it out there. God can use it as He sees fit….. as good examples or horrible warnings!
I changed servers in 2019 and lost all the analytical data for the years from 2004 ‘til 2019.

Maybe some found my blog through curiosity about Christ and Christian spirituality. Maybe some have been comforted, felt less alone, learned something new, or gotten help with a paper or a sermon, etc. It’s not my concern, only God’s and the people touched. I just want to be faithful with what my engagement with the Lord and life give me and to be responsible in sharing it with those who are looking for meaning in life through pondering and writing, in addition to the people I can reach in personal face-to-face ministry.
This is part of my practice of transparent teaching ministry. Considering scripture, sowing the Word of God, casting nets.
One interesting note of late….. during any given week visitors at the top of the geographic distribution are from either the United States or China. China? I can’t imagine Chinese interest in my writing. Humorously, I wondered whether they might be training AI in southern linquistics! LOL! (CBB 11/3/25)
