For many years I followed the calendar, seasons, and holidays that coincided with a standard school system calendar…… That has been the case for many of us who raised children or worked in education….We continued in the school-year pattern we had known growing up and through our children’s school years.
But since attending seminary and growing in my appreciation of the Christian church calendar I have more and more turned toward a time-and-season view that corresponds to the liturgical year.
A few years ago when I saw this Awakening Calendar from Seedbed, it resonated with me and became a logical way of thinking about the times and seasons from a biblical perspective.
This is just one more way in which I am coming to realize that I, as a Christian, am still “in” the world, but less and less “of” the world. My eyes and heart are set on a different vision and hope. My priority and interests are beyond the physical realm of the world. This is my preferred way of experiencing time now, year-in and year-out…. repeating His-story until my story shall become harmoniously attuned with Christ’s. CBB 1/17/23
