CBB. 1/30/26 was truly a day in the Spirit…….starting with an 8 a.m. class discussion with recovery students about dreams, one that was even a visual preview that appeared exactly aligned with the lesson I was about to teach! As I had gotten in the car Gridsy morning, thinking I’d teach the same class as Thursday night’s class at the Mission’s women’s class on internal and external recovery assets, a brief reference to the Holy Trinity observed on social media the previous night came to mind and I thought about something I had written on understanding the Trinity through a metaphor a few years ago. In that moment the LORD God spoke in my spirit saying, “Teach this today.” So imagine my surprise to walk in, have the ladies start sharing their dreams and the youngest woman in the room shared a one-frame dream from the night before that was a total mystery to her, she ssid, but that could have well served as a visual illustration of the lesson the LORD God had just told me to teach barely 25 minutes earlier! Hair raised up on my arms and back of my neck. I trembled and exclaimed, “Oh my goodness, you’ve just described a picture that sums up today’s lesson, Jesus upon the waters!” I could hardly keep the tears back as I prayed and began reading from the lesson plan. The Spirit’s Presence filled the room. The women were eagerly engaged as I unfolded the metaphor of ice, water, vapor with scripture that pointed to the artful use of the metaphor of Father, Son and Spirit upon waters of the earth for the mysterious Triune God in Three Persons. The ladies affirmed it as a helpful way to grasp a difficult concept, made all the more memorable for us by the palpable Presence of the LORD God with us as we talked! From there the day only got more extraordinary with the awareness of the LORD God and His glory present in the day’s events…. from a hearty crowd in attendance and reconnecting with some Bay County service providers at the monthly Community Adult Protective Team meeting, to a lengthy counseling session with a woman in discipleship with me, and a brief radio interview about a new federal program emphasis on addiction recovery that was a summation of things I and others have been praying about and advocating for nearly 20 years. All this plus the relief and joy I felt from our daughter-in-law having received encouraging news after the previous full day at the hospital for a surgical procedure and biopsy. Oh, what favor from God, a truly memorable day amid many answers to prayers on this teaching trip to Florida!
