How many have noticed that, when one has a significant victory in the Kingdom that leads to peace and reconciliation, pretty close on its heels comes a sneak attack from the enemy that is sometimes so subtle and unexpected that it just brings one to her knees? That happens often with ladies in the Titus 2 residential life recovery program. I feel so badly for them when it happens. I have to tell them “Satan is NEVER going to give up hounding you or putting temptations in your path.” You have to stay prayed up, suited up in the armor, studied up, in community, and not get complacent or lax about your habits, your vigilance, or your daily disciplines, thinking, “The tide has turned. Everything’s going to come up roses now!” It won’t. Pray for our Titus 2 students’ hearts and minds. I have to counsel them regularly through very difficult situations and disappointments. My heart aches for them, but in each case it demands that one reach way down and come up with Christ’s response and not her own. Thankfully, they are generally able to do exactly that…..not easy, not comfortable (for them or me), but ultimately bringing about growth and new wisdom. They learn to step out in faith in some “big girl” ways.
