CAUGHT!!! (From 11/15/2013)
The individual responsible for the theft of our property was arrested today by criminal investigators from Bay County Sheriff’s Department at our house while still on the job……with his minor son standing there watching. The child went home with the man’s helper. Although he began by denying it all, as soon as the pictures and pawn shop ticket came out, he changed his tune. All of the items of Mother’s have been located and we will be able to retrieve them next week. He’s got two felony charges- grand theft and dealing in stolen property. First appearance is in the morning. Mother’s things turned up at New Wave pawn shop on the beach and my stuff appears to have been pawned in Pensacola at Coin and Bullion. He’ll probably make bail with money stolen from us and the proceeds of the sale of our property. We’ll have pictures Monday to confirm my jewelry and I may be making a trip to Pensacola to negotiate to get my own property back. Crazy, huh? I regret that a blanket of suspicion was thrown over all of the individuals working at my home. There was no way to know for sure which one, but we knew there was a rotten apple in the basket. It appears he may have had an accomplice who worked briefly at our home, too. We’ll know more early next week. Hooray for BCSO criminal investigators! Watch Bay County mugshots for the next few days. You’ll recognize the circumstances and charges! Our general contractor has been great and says he is going to do what he can to assure this guy never works in Bay County again as a contractor of any sort. Good riddance!
Today (11/15/2022)
This scoundrel bonded out, eventually negotiated a lesser plea that was only a misdemeanor. We had to pay the pawn shop to get my mother’s jewelry back. A few charms on a gold neck chain of mine were located and i had to buy them back. My treasured pieces were never found. Bracelets, necklaces, two rings…
Finally, 8 years later in 2021, he paid the court-ordered restitution for the value of the items stolen. The feeling of violation when your home is burgled is pretty shocking, even more so when the individual has gained entry through otherwise legitimate means…
