“Triangles are very strong shapes which
makes them important when
building strong and stable structures.”
This Tweet by Eric Hoke caught my eye. This individual helps pastors leaving ministry find their place in the secular economy employment arena. This notion of an “iron triangle” resonated with me. It’s thinking of something in terms of the lowest common denominators necessary for strength, stability, and value. This three-point concept is the same thing that appealed to me about Dr. Mark Ragins book on counseling and journeying alongside people with serious mental health challenges like addiction, bipolar, depression, psychosis, PTSD, anxiety, etc. I had already recognized and use the same three pivot points for instructing spiritual, emotional, and mental fitness that Dr Ragins applied……. source and strength of one’s identity, one’s perception of reality, and the role of community. The iron triangle is evident in Scripture, too. Our struggles in life boil down to three obstacles that lie at the root of all temptation … lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life. (Genesis 3:6, Luke 4, 1 John 2:16) and the fullness of the identity and character of God that guides us into wholeness….(in Father, Son, Holy Spirit)
What is the iron triangle that defines your life’s operational functionality?
