Since Cloud and Townsend used imagery of each person carrying her own knapsack as a metaphor for personal responsibility, I have always added that, when a boulder falls into the path, ot often takes rallying others to help move it off the path.
Single moms often have to make hard choices on a daily basis about prioritizing expenditures. Housing, food, children’s school needs, clothing, gas, etc. Car maintenance and repairs often go to the bottom of the list until they can’t. If they are fortunate enough to own a car, when the car is not operational, neither is their life. Work missed, school days missed, critical appointments missed. Anxiety peaks.
Titus 2 has had a commitment to help with two vital tools for working mothers who find themselves in temporary shelter needing our crisis case management assistance. Those two items are phone service and urgent car repair assistance. When they are responsibly and accountably working toward stabilizing their family spiritually, emotionally, economically, and relationally in healthy supportive community, we try to help them get over an urgent and immediate obstacle.
We have one of those needs now. A trusted auto service company has provided a quote…… tires are worn bald (a serious safety issue!), battery must be replaced. (Stranded multiple times@ because of it!) And a front right ball joint replacement that must happen before it can even come out of the service bay….. Thankfully, her car insurance towed it there. But the repairs are vital to continuing work and progress on her family’s life recovery plan.
If you have been there…….short on money, or without permanent housing, or caring for children alone, or facing a car bill you cannot pay……please consider helping Titus 2 with this urgent need! Venmo or Zelle are available, Checks can be mailed or cash or checks can be picked up by Cathy. This bill is more than our Titus 2 resources alone can manage, and she has little to spare for the repairs at this point. UPDATE: This is a heartfelt thank you to some very special people in our community of faith and Titus 2 ministry supporters who came through in a timely manner. The funds needed will have been secured by Monday, it appears, based on the individuals who have reached out to me and committed to help.
Between Titus 2 ministry resources, generous friends, and the mom’s commitment to pay a specified portion, Monday the full cost of repairs will be able to be made and the car should be safe and ready for me to take her to pick it up. I praise God for the Kingdom economy as it works across many hearts and hands!
