God of All Comfort

“God is speaking to the prophet Jeremiah and through him, to all people when He says, “Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know,” Jeremiah 33:3. The struggles that lead you closer to God are worth more than any comfort that distances you from Him. The testing of your faith produces perseverance, James 1:2-3. Perseverance is a steadfast and enduring commitment to faith and righteousness, despite difficulties, suffering, and opposition. It is not just human effort, but a work of the Holy Spirit that empowers you to endure trials and develop Christ like character.” (From Dottie Wilson)

…….”The struggles that lead you closer to God are worth more than any comfort that distances you from Him.”

Any “comforts” that are not of God are nothing more than counterfeits and distractions intended to keep you AWAY from God. They are the “dainties” of the world. They may look good and taste good in the flesh, but they will not sustain you. God is the source of ALL TRUE COMFORT. That is why scripture instructs us to comfort others with the comfort we have received from God….. If one is offering comforts that are not in alignment with God’s own character and Word, then you are deceived.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Psalm 119:76
“Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.”

Psalm 119:50
“This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.”

Isaiah 66:13
“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”

These are but a few. There are many words of comfort in His Word and in His Holy Spirit’s Presence.
