Politically Driven Mass Hysteria

People are ( and have been for a while) going way out of their way to criticize one another’s choices politically based on “Christian” faith.

I doubt Jesus could be said to have agreed with the brutal empire that ruled Judah and all the environment in his world at the time. Yet he said “give to Caesar what is Caesar’s.” He clearly disagreed with the Pharisees and the power they swayed in collusion with the Romans against the everyday folks just trying to live their lives. And he was pretty brutal in his epithets against them. And the judgment he recommended for those who harm innocent children was unequivocal. So don’t hide behind Christian faith in choosing one’s political preferences. Jesus was not a political animal, though that’s exactly what people wanted of their Messiah and he rejected it over and over. On a Sunday the crowds shouted to hail him; by Thursday they shouted to nail him. The opinions of the crowd matter little in the grand scheme of God’s plan. He turns peoples hearts to accomplish his will because hearts are notoriously fickle. But a mind stayed on God and his Word will be a force to be reckoned with even if they never speak a word or raise a hand to contend with the powers of this world. Christian faith and practice transcends and perseveres in spite of the ebb and flow of political leaders and the influences under which the leaders operate. ….. and God is still sovereign and allows what happens, even when we don’t understand it and whether we like it or not. We can rest and abide in his power and goodness and wait and watch, doing what we are called to in our own little corner of the world and upon those whom we have influence.

i would never unfriend anyone over their political views. I like to know why people believe what they believe and how they live it out.
