Curing Loneliness

Ten years ago I was posting about loneliness at holiday season and organizing “Neighbors’ Cookie Swap event in Lynn Haven. It seems to be a perpetual and pervasive experience in our culture today. A mere five years later I was widowed. The next year our daughter published a book on loneliness, “The Great Belonging.” She just celebrated its 5th anniversary of publication…..

“The dis-ease that plagues contemporary society is isolation….feeling disconnected from one’s own heart and that of others. People live next door to one another and may never even know one another’s names. Many families are at odds with each other or separated by distance. We have “too little time” to just sit and chat and share our lives. Decide to make this Advent season one of “connection”…..be intentional about relationships…..visit with your neighbors…..make a new friend.
Make some cookies and come enjoy an hour or two of just being present to self and others in the spirit of neighbor-li-ness!
ROBERTS HALL ON FLORIDA AV. IN LYNN HAVEN. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21 9-12. Check the event page at Neighbors Cookie Swap”. (CBB 11/17/15)
