Vessels of Honor or Dishonor

From 2/23/2016

I have told discipleship students many times, “God WILL use us. We will either be a good example or a horrible warning for others.” Unfortunately, each of us has probably been used in each one of those ways at some point or another.

2 Timothy 2:20 “Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.”

It is not the vessel’s choice as to how it is used or what it is called. It is the use of the vessel that determines its status in the house and that is determined by God, the Potter who makes and ordains the use of each vessel. Even vessels of “dishonor” are only called such because of how they are viewed by the people by whom they are used and the use to which they are put. No matter a vessel’s use or what it is called, it is valuable in the eyes of God and has a place in the house.
