Loving Yourself

In February 2018 our pastor preached a series of sermons on relationships. The final message was on relationship with ourselves. The quality of our life is dependent on relationships. We are told to love others as ourselves. We try to hide our lack of self-Love in several ways…..pride ( putting others down, boasting of ourselves), pity ( doing anything to please others and gain their attention/approval), perfectionism (holding unrealistic expectations of others as well as ourselves), punishment ( self destructive behavior).

Regarding loving ourselves we are told:
1) There is a proper amount Romans 12.3,

2) we are made in Gods image and wonderfully made. Gen 1:26, Psalm 139:14

3) we are so loved and valued God gave his Son to save us. Romans 5:8,11

4) we are honored to be called Gods children. 1 John 3:1-2

How to love yourself:
Ask God to check your speech.
Receive compliments with “thank you.”
Be part of a caring Body of Christ.
Practice healthy self-care.
Allow the Holy Spirit to transform your thinking.
