There are some ironies that are just too rich to ignore. Today the final one of what had been several banging and ill-fitting doors closed in my life, despite my efforts to fit it for use. I had scheduled a celebratory bonfire with a few close friends to dispose of a mountainous stack of files, books, and papers in conjunction with this anticipated closing of doors to the past, all of which they have faithfully journeyed through with me. Coincidentally with this fire-y purge, a water well system has been required to be serviced and I have been informed that a certain critical part for its proper function, which had been serviced several times since taking over this location for ministry in 2015 was installed upside down, leading to the repeated difficulties we have observed. How long it had been that way under previous owners and service technicians cannot even be guessed. And, lastly, it was necessary to engage the services of a septic service/plumbing company today that thoroughly cleaned out, restored, updated, and certified the ever-necessary sewage waste system at the ministry residence. Now, finally, having cleared away all of these previously unknown but clearly obfuscating difficulties, systems will work as they were designed to do, extraneous miscellany of no further value will be jettisoned and we will move forward with confidence, focused on the primary function of ministry to those God brings here! Closing doors is a very satisfying and motivating task in preparing for the future.
“He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. ” Revelation 21:3-7
(BTW- the well servicing was done free of cost for us and the septic servicing has been done at a price one tenth of what was paid for a similar upgrade at another property 3 years ago. God makes sure the work is done exactly when needed AND does it in a cost effective way through his own means!) 3/8/2017
