Go!

In every one of the Gospel accounts Jesus told his followers to GO! Go and make disciples….go and preach…go and proclaim the kingdom….go and bear fruit…. The Gospel is an action-focused imperative to GO.

Matthew 28:19: Therefore GO and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Mark 16:15 He said to them, GO into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Luke 9: 60: GO and proclaim the kingdom of God.

John 15:16: I chose you and appointed you so that you might GO and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

There are, however, times, seasons even, when one needs to sit still and wait….quiet before the Lord and keeping company with her own soul….. responding to no demands, no pleas, no urgent tasks….. just waiting for the sound of the still small voice. And until that is heard, consoled by the ticking of the clock and her own heartbeat which remind her that the time is short and the “better part” is more important than the busy-ness.

Hebrews 10:19-23:
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

…… Holy Spirit, come. Abide with me,
