This is the beauty and majesty of the Advent story and the angel’s Annunciation to Mary for us:
Jesus said that one must come into the Kingdom of God as a little child…..He himself came into the world as a little child, bringing the kingdom of God with Him. He departed this realm, returning to heaven so that God’s Holy Spirit might come upon and dwell within us, as it did in Him. By His Holy Spirit we are born anew, delivered into His kingdom-as-it-is-coming on earth, imparting it through His own life, ministry, death, resurrection, empowering Holy Spirit breath upon His disciples, Ascension, and timely kairos igniting of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Because of it all, we become little children of the same holy Father becoming forever one with Him by the power of His Holy Spirit.
The angel’s Annunciation is for every heart willing to receive His message of love and becoming a child of God, born of God’s Holy Spirit.
It is The Great Reversal…. The righting of an upside down world. God imparted His Holy Spirit upon the humble, obedient woman, Mary. The baby born of Mary became the first “new-birth experience” of a Holy Spirit- filled existence brought forth through humanity.
Jesus Christ’s divinely breathed blessing, imparting the same Holy Spirit to His disciples in the Upper Room, brought forth a “new-birth experience” in them. And as each hearer of the Gospel is stirred to hunger and thirst for the Living Water and Bread of Life, the Holy Spirit of Christ is given a humble place in which to be born again in another human heart where faith, hope, and love from God may abide.
Day after day, year after year, Advent after Advent, one life after another, one generation after another…….
As long as the angel messenger’s annunciation carried on the wind is spoken by one faithful servant after another, each afire with the Holy Spirit, the life of Christ continues, born again and again in those who believe.
Psalm 104:4 “He makes winds his messengers,flames of fire his servants.”
Quoted by Paul in Hebrews 1:7 “Now about the angels He says: ‘He makes His angels winds, His servants flames of fire.”
Angels direct the flow to humanity by appointment from God; Christ delivers the Good News and imparts the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit ignites and further fans the flame in hearts and communities of followers of Jesus Christ.
All of this to reverse the downfall of creation caused by resistance and rebellion of the unholy and self-seeking wills of creatures of God, angelic and human. God no longer merely directs creation, He has taken it back from the hands of man. He inhabits it, and transforms it by His Spirit hovering, overshadowing, and entering into those desiring righteousness.
He will not cease til all have been won or have chosen their dreadful fate. As long as babies are being born, in the flesh and in the Spirit , God is sowing for more who will become the kingdom harvest.
Signs and indicators of man’s choices are everywhere both good and evil. Few are more telling than the intentional death of babies in the womb by humankind and declining birth rates from many factors attributed to mankind’s choices. God is bringing All Things to a culmination, it seems unless humankind repents and changes. 12/19/25. CBB
