Joshua 1:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall [a]divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may [b]prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[c] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Listening to the morning lesson from Dr. David Jeremiah, he noted that Joshua 1:6-8 is the only verse in the Bible that combines the words “prosperous” and “success”….this is the true “prosperity gospel”! So, according to these verses what is it that brings such joyful circumstances as prosperity and success to God’s people???
1.) Being strong and courageous in obedience to what you have been called to do by the Word of God.
2.) Speaking the truth of the Word and meditating on it continually so that you will be careful to observe its instruction.
Jeremiah is actually preaching on the book of Revelation and is winding it up with the final instructions and what John did after receiving this awesome revelation of the future. It is the same thing we are to do until the end of time comes. The bottom line: be obedient and worship the Lord! Rev. 22: 8-9
“Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who KEEP THE WORDS OF THIS BOOK. WORSHIP GOD.”
He notes, too, that Christ’s return will happen quickly…so quickly that whatever state we are in is how we will continue…if filthy, filty….if righteous, righteous…..if holy, holy. there will be no time to get things in order, no notice. Just our Lord suddenly here!
