Lesson in immersion….
Some are armchair viewers… they watch iMax images and, for a moment, see and experience through others’ eyes the beauty of new adventures captured by people they haven’t known. They seek information out of curiosity.
Others are tourists…. they go in groups with itineraries, led by guides who show them popular sites that most people want to see or what the guide likes most. They seek a safe and informative experience they can share with others.
Still others are adventurers…… striking out into the unknown, confident they have the right tools, skills, and knowledge for any terrain. They seek novelty and the joy of discovering what few others have seen and experienced.
Then there are pilgrims…… they know the way, follow the path of others who knew or had heard of the path and destination, doing so slowly and savoring every step, engaging fellow travelers they encounter to maximize the experience. For them it is a lifelong journey of getting all the “goody” out of beholding and becoming. 1/14/22 CBByrd
