The Struggle Is Necessary

People living in a delusion, a deception, need Reality Therapy. And once eyes can see, ears can hear and minds can grasp the desperate condition of their spirit, if they are open to the truth of the reality in which they find themselves we can trust that God will lead them out of their wilderness and into a new way of life. Like the prodigal son of Luke 15, when he found himself in a pig pen, starving, and came to the reality that “ …no one gave him anything..”. That’s a harsh reality, when all one’s lifelines have been spent….. which makes the next sentence particularly poignant …“when he came to his senses…” it was then and only then that he had the cognitive clarity of mind to consider a way out of his squandered, desperate situation and formulate a plan to gather himself together and humbly return to his family home asking for help of a modest and minimum decency kind..

One recovery students observed :

It’s in the struggle where God is equipping us for flight. As long as people kept “giving me assistance” and “cutting me from the cocoon” I couldn’t come to my senses.

The struggle is real….. and sometimes it is necessary.
