Does anything say, “Go ahead, underestimate me….let’s see what happens”….. than the slight forward lean of the torso and head, set of the jaw, scrutinizing look of the eyes, Mona Lisa-esque non-committal mouth, and crossed arms of this 10 year old?? LOL. I never noticed how determined …. or vaguely defiant…. I seem to be. I suspect this is my resting look, even now. No wonder so many view me as a daunting “extra grace required” personality!! I’m not even sure what I’m thinking there…..maybe,”Let’s get this over with… I have other things waiting at grandmas house… like playing outside with the cousins.” I think I was 9.
Oh,my! I have seen that same posture and look in a 93 yo lady I loved and even teased that I wanted to be just like her when I grow up!! I think our lives crossed to show me something of what lies ahead based on what already lay behind!!! Reflecting on her, even with her quirks and hurts, it wouldn’t be a bad thing.
one friend commented: “If you blink maybe you’ll grant a wish lol” ( Suggesting I looked a bit like Jeannie in The old TV series, I Dream Of Jeannie.).
