From 2 years ago… It was 4 weeks after Bill’s death. I don’t remember a lot about those first few weeks except that my emotions were such a mish-mash mix. I’ve learned first hand a lot about how they come and go in the grieving process.
“Someone once explained emotions this way: “Emotions are like kids in a car. You don’t want to throw them in the trunk, but you don’t want them driving either. In other words, our emotions are part of how we experience life, but they shouldn’t dictate our life’s experiences.” Pastor Alan George
“Try pausing right before and right after undertaking a new action, even something simple like putting a key in a lock to open a door. Such pauses take a brief moment, yet they have the effect of decompressing time and centering you.”
-David Steindl-Rast, author of The Music of Silence
Try this today. Pause whenever you start something new. I have been on pause for a month. I think I will be on pause a bit longer. It’s all still a bit new…….
