God is so attentive! This week He has placed me in three circumstances where accountability was the issue at hand….
- Yesterday a young mentee with whom I’ve work for a year told me about discovering in a rather sudden and disconcerting, even supernatural, way that God will require us to be honest with one another as well as Him about our daily practice of our Christian walk.
- Yesterday a young woman who has drifted In and out of my life asked me to hold her accountable to stay on track with some tasks. I told her it doesn’t work that way. I can’t “hold her accountable.” She must want to be accountable and select me as the person to whom she chooses to be accountable. The onus for accountability is on her, not me.
- Then this morning the first thing I see in my inbox is Jorge Acevedo writing on the Wesleyan Way of accountability. I have people to whom I have made myself accountable. However, it is not a word or a concept that I think about or talk about often. It is something I simply do…… until God makes it clear that it is a topic to be addressed…..as He clearly has in the last 24 hours! (CBB 3:28/25)
