For a year and a half I led a group of women who went twice a month on Tuesday afternoons to spend an hour telling humorous stories, singing songs and visiting with residents at Mathison Retirement Center..
This is a report from our visit on 7/22/2014:
We (4 Merry Makers and a couple of Titus 2 ladies) had a delightful afternoon in ministry at Mathison Retirement Center. Our program featured “river” songs…including Moon River! One gentleman sang it all the way through with his eyes closed, smiling….wonder who he was imagining as he sang….Audrey Hepburn or his beloved? We sang a rocking version of “Down by the Riverside!” and a sweet gentle rendition of “Peace Like a River (It is Well With my Soul), and more.
One sweet lady who’s been a regular with us died this morning, after having had surgery this past week. Rest with Christ, sweet Blanch……We’ll be back there on August 5th and 19th. There were three new residents there who joined in. Good to see our senior friends!
