Encouraging Other Future Helpers

I had such a sweet phone conversation yesterday with a young lady getting ready to start an accelerated BSN program in another state. She was referred to me by a friend who had worked with our program. This young lady has been volunteering with a domestic violence program and wants to work in trauma-informed care. She is exploring God’s call on her life and our former volunteer felt that she could benefit from learning more about what we do at Titus 2 in offering healing to women in life-limiting circumstances. She particularly wanted to know how to enter into group engagement with women early in the healing process with women who have suffered trauma, before they feel safe, while they are still suspicious and feel vulnerable and guarded. We had a long and productive conversation. I was able to share some tools with her and some approaches for her to begin practicing. She plans to come visit so we can share resources and discuss using biblical principles even in secular settings. It’s exciting to be talking to someone on the front end of a career in her 20’s who has a sense of call on her life and knows what she wants to do and to know that she will have 40+ years to begin making an impact on the lives of others through seeking and applying God’s wisdom in healing the emotional and spiritual hurts, as well as the medical hurts she will encounter in her nursing career.
