Colossians 2:18-
“Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.”
In a devotional message to other pastors a teacher was emphatic about not getting caught in the false Gnosticism of “super spiritual people and groups.”
Since I have shared some with this pastor , I wondered:
Is that how I am viewed ? Overly religious and suspect. I have no special revelation that is not available to all who love Christ and His Word….. when the Lord made it clear that my spiritual gifts were faith and teaching. He told me to “Tell others”….. tell them what the Holy Spirit teaches me. Not everything I think or conclude (obviously) is from the Holy Spirit , but makes sense and seems compatible with scripture to me, but I don’t presume to have all the answers. I am not employed, I do not write of disciple for pay, I am completely a volunteer, a servant of the Lord….and it really doesn’t matter what anyone thinks, I don’t claim to have anything special. I don’t seek power, but my focus on sharing Christ with others does tend to close me out of places and from people who are heavily engaged with the world…. it has felt like a “soft” form of discrimination or persecution at times. My “passion” annoys some. Oh, well…. c’est le vie.
PS. No angel worship here! LOL!
2Corinthians 5:13-21
13 If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. 14 Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
