My little Bitsy Shih Tzu is so smart…she makes me laugh! I decided she and I would share a diced apple for breakfast, one of our usual travel treats. And I thought, “I’ll just start with the apple bits here at the kitchen table to give her the two syringes of cardio meds.” It’s our twice daily routine. We usually use chopped chicken or little bits of tortilla with peanut butter. When she realized I was trying to use apple bits to dose her meds she was not having it! She spit out the same apple bit 3 times, then refused to take it before I even tried to dose the meds. I started laughing and she got out of my lap and stood there looking up at me with a cocked head like, “I know the routine and THIS IS NOT THE ROUTINE!” I surrendered and took out the chopped chicken. She happily took the meds and had her chicken treat. Now she’s gobbling down the apple bits as I share them with her while I have coffee as we sit in the recliner. She’s got me trained….. CBB
