Civil War In The Church…….Really?

Civil War In The Church…….Really?

Civil War In the Church…..Really? Jesus was a Jewish rabbi. What was his entire ministry but a civil war against the way the Jewish faith had been corrupted, had rebelled against God, its leadership having become a colluding partner with the culture of its day? What was it but civil war when Martin Luther opposed the corruption in the Roman Catholic Church, the selling of indulgences and the collusion with political entities of his day? When great revivals rise up what are they but civil unrest in opposition to systems that have become complacent and blind to their faults? I am not surprised...

Figures Lie, Liars Figure #boycottstupidmemes

Someone posted what seemed like a harmless math “IQ test” meme on Facebook:     Several people quickly responded that it was a simple test and easy to discern. One gentleman, Richard P. Harris, who is apparently at least a math enthusiast if not a math instructor, wrote this: “ I dislike these things. Math is simple: 8+2=10 Any other answer is not correct. The proper way to state the above meme is f(8,2)=16106 etc... Yes, I am a purist but with the way kids are (not) taught proper math, this could be confusing to them.” I, too, posted in response to this meme: Cathy Boyd...

Choose Your Companions Wisely

"The people we surround ourselves with either raise or lower our standards. They either help us to become the best version of ourselves or encourage us to become lesser versions of ourselves. We become like our friends. No man becomes great on his own. No woman become great on her own. The people around them help to make them great.  We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, remind us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the best version of ourselves. Deacon Ordination Completed

Deacon Ordination Completed

Signed, Sealed, Delivered....for the benefit of Titus 2 Partnership, Inc.'s ministry to women, those in the community whom I serve, and my local church family. Although it was not by the means I had expected when I started the process 10 years ago, it is no less valuable, is recognized by the State of Florida, and is a statement of my faithfulness to complete what I know God called me to accomplish on behalf of those I serve! I could have saved myself a lot of time and aggravation the last 4 years if I had not been blinded by denominational loyalty! I know that God allowed me to go through...

Come and Share in Your Master’s Joy

Come and Share in Your Master’s Joy

I heard a statement recently that resonated so strongly in my spirit, it was as if I were realizing something significant for the first time. It was not actually all that profound….just common sense…..and, indeed, quite biblical. I had just never heard it put so succinctly. “One may lose fellowship with the Lord because of decisions made, but one is never beyond the love of God.” Even in our salvation, we can encounter new situations, new decisions, new dilemmas, new trials, new hurts that challenge our faith. One may make a bad decision without adequate Godly guidance simply because of...

Long Time Coming….

Long Time Coming….

It is with great joy that we announce the graduation of a Titus 2 student from the Bay County School District GED program at Tom P. Haney Technical Center. When she completed the final test today, she accomplished a goal that, until a few months ago, seemed beyond reach. Today, with tears in her eyes as she showed me her temporary certificate, she said, “My Daddy, before he died, said he regretted never seeing any of his sons or his daughter graduate from high school. Today, I know Daddy sees me and is proud of this.” We know he is proud of you and so are we. Our student is 39 years old with...

Coming and Going

Coming and Going

This Easter 2018 morning, as some drove to Carillon Beach and back, church parking lots were observed filled to overflowing...including a long line of cars parked along Back Beach Road at one church. Law enforcement officers worked to manage traffic in and out of church parking lots. One church with average attendance in the 30-75 range reported over 300! A pastor observed this morning that those present at a sunrise service are, in all likelihood, believers to have come out that early in the morning chill....However, as he noted, too, not all believers are followers. And even Judas, who was...

Infant’s Sleeping Smile

Praying today for a baby being born to our nephew and his beautiful wife, Ryan and Sally Boyd of Albany, Ga.   Infant's Sleeping Smile   I’ve stood by your cradle and watched you Dream your silent dreams. Empty they are of a language But filled with humor, it seems. So recently from His hand you’ve come The two of you still share A private thought between you That makes a smile your prayer. 5/24/73     CBByrd

Small(est) Blessings……..

Small(est) Blessings……..

Yesterday I attended the funeral of my sister-in-law's 83 year old mother, Charlene Sheffield Mallard.  It was a sweet celebration of a gifted Christian woman.  Her lifelong love of art and painting and her  ministry to preschool children were especially noted.  Charlene's great grandchildren where very visible.....infants and toddlers and primary grade school boys and girls....my great nieces and nephews.....my brother's grandchildren. Another baby is due tomorrow in his family.  As I hugged their little necks and kissed their cheeks, I thought about the way this church, First Baptist...
