Take My Hand

Every time I envision God’s grip on me I think about Rev. Ron Ball talking about stooping over and clasping the entire hand and wrist of his toddler granddaughter as they walked together and how God spoke to him in that moment, calling Ron’s attention to how he was holding her hand and letting Ron know that’s exactly the way He holds ours…. enfolded entirely, securely, and never letting go.

Isaiah 41:13  “For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you. ‘

Isaiah 42:6  “I am the Lord, I have called You in righteousness,I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You, And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations.”

“Precious Lord, Take My Hand”
Lyrics & Music by Thomas A. Dorsey

Performed by Mahalia Jackson

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near
When my light is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When the darkness appears and the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
